Houston-based Filtration Technology Corporation (FTC), a leader in innovative filtration and separation products and solutions, remains open during the current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, and has adapted its operations to maintain critical manufacturing output.
Harris County Judge, Lina Hidalgo, has issued a “Stay Home, Work Safe” order for the city of Houston and Harris county. However, to maintain the health, safety, and security of our community and our country, this order provides an exception for essential service businesses as outlined by the US Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). CISA’s “Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce: Ensuring Community and National Resilience in Covid-19 Response”, dated March 19, 2020, lists critical infrastructure sectors that have a special responsibility to continue operations and maintain the services and functions Americans depend on every day.
According to the CISA guidelines, FTC is considered a “Critical Manufacturing” business, with operations “necessary for the manufacturing of materials and products needed for medical supply chains, transportation, energy, communications, food and agriculture, chemical manufacturing, nuclear facilities, the operations of dams, water and wastewater treatment, emergency services, and the defense industrial base”.
FTC manufactures filtration and separation products that are essential for maintaining proper operations and optimized output in a variety of industries, including natural gas processing and transmission, oil refining, power generation, industrial manufacturing, water treatment, and food and beverage. These industries are critical to the supply chain of essential needs; some of the many examples include PPE, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, toilet paper, transportation fuels, power, and food and beverage packaging. In compliance with the county order and CISA guidelines, FTC will continue to maintain scheduled operations during the Houston/Harris County “Stay Home, Work Safe” order.
The health and safety of FTC’s employees, channel partners, customers, and community neighbors remain our highest priority. We are actively taking measures to minimize employee exposure and community spread as recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). We will continue to monitor updates from local and state government, the CDC and the WHO, and continuously make improvements in our processes and policies as required to stop the spread of COVID-19.
According to Tyler J. Johnson, President & CEO of FTC, “Our team at FTC is proud to continue serving our partners and customers during this challenging time. We take seriously our critical manufacturing role even when there is no threat to our national security. During this COVID-19 emergency, we are more focused than ever on maintaining normal operations so that we can continue to supply the industries that depend on our products.”
